I started this blog with all good intentions, and then promptly fell off the wagon. It started when I caught a bug that was going around, rather than try and fight it with an onslaught of vitamins and fresh air, I wallowed, lay in bed and ate crap. This didn't do much for my waistline, and also made me feel too guilty to go back to Curves. I haven't been now for about three weeks because I am scared they are going to tell me off, or look at me disapprovingly. Ha ha. I will bite the proverbial bullet again this week, promise.

So, aside from all that self-pitying stuff, I have also been busy doing DIY at home (not completely useless then!) - carting furniture around, sorting through my hideous garage and generally keeping active. I have also been out and bought the new Wii Fit console, so that is pretty exciting.

I was quite optimistic when I first got on it because it pitched my Wii Fit Age as 30, only 4 above my actual age... but then the following day it said I was 44... not so good. My BMI also seems to have shot up in the last couple of days, which is almost medically impossible (six pounds weight gain over night?!?!)... so I have decided to ignore it's weighing/BMI function and just concentrate on using it for exercise, because it really does feel like it is doing some good. Gets me aching, which can only be a good thing )

So, wish me luck. My weight currently stands at 15 stone and 11 pounds (first thing in morning), so will keep you updated with how I get on.

Ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch.

I am officially as stiff as a board, and feeling an odd mix of elated and totally fed up. It hasn’t been long since I started, but I’m already feeling the benefits.

However, I must admit I have pretty much naffed off the ‘walking to work’ thing. By the time I’d got to Curves I was already kernackered and the guys there told me to do it for at least a month before trying to take on more. So, reluctantly (yeah right), I decided to knock it on the head and get a parking permit in town again

Food wise I am being incredibly good. The Curves book also states to give the workout regime a good month before doing the diet, but I’m ignoring that rule and doing it all now. Such a rebel! Notice how quick I am to give up on the hard stuff and ignore the advice to tell me to stop the easy bit (believe it or not, I don’t find dieting hard, as I don’t tend to eat crap anyway).

So, that’s me. No weightloss to report yet, in fact poss even a slight gain, but that cannot be anything but muscle cos I’ve been eating nothing but raw spinach, lean meat and the odd bit of fruit, lol.

I met the owner of Curves for the first time last night, Richard. He seemed alright, although it’s odd having a bloke running a women’s only health centre! :S
I was quite chuffed though cos he was inducting a new girl, and we got chatting and he thought I’d been going for months because my technique was so good and I was managing really well… when I told him it was only my third workout he was stunned. Always nice to get that reaction, however staged it may have been

Ok - so I think that will do for today. I can barely walk, lol, but otherwise it’s all good, and I haven’t been put off yet. Plus I am aiming for that tote bag!*

*For any that don’t know Curves, they give you a free Tote bag if you tot up 12 workouts in your first month. I don’t really want the Tote bag if truth be known, but it’s an incentive, and i’ll take anything I can at the moment!!

 Comments

Episode One

Well - here we go, my first journey into the weird and wonderful world of blogging!

I am not too sure how long I will keep this up - the writing at least - but I am full of good intentions at the moment, so here we go!

I have decided to embark upon a new fitness regime in order to get my bod into tip top condition

It is long overdue to be honest… I have been looking at old photos over the last couple of weeks, and it is frankly depressing that I have let myself get so out of shape. But rather than let myself get worse and worse, I am taking some steps to right my wrongs and this blog will be my way of keeping the motivation up. I don’t really care if people read it or not, but knowing I am “going public” makes it a lot harder to slip of the rails. If there is anyone out there going through the same thing, subscribe to this blog and send me a message, and I'll subscribe to your's.. then we can support each other!

The idea of making some changes became more 'serious' when I popped into Curves on Guild Street for a chat about what they do. I was really enthused by the fact that it is a place for women only, that is really supportive and friendly. The machines they use are all double positive resistance machines, working on hydraulics so they get harder the stronger you become… no faffing around with changing weights etc. Woo hoo!

Before I could blink I found myself handing over my debit card to pay my introductory fee, and claiming my key fob and blurb. I was weighed, measured, inducted on the equipment and left feeling really happy that those first scary steps had been taken, and without any pain or humiliation!! When I say 'before I could blink' I don't mean I was harrassed into it by an over eager sales assistant (which can be the case at some gyms!), I was just so impressed that I couldn't get started soon enough.

On top of Curves, which I aim to go to about three or four times a week, I am also following their eating plan to kick start things. It’s not a faddy diet, just common sense really. And on top of THAT, my parking permit has run out so I am walking the 2.5 miles into work and back each day… i.e. five miles, lol. Talk about a shock to the system!

So, wish me luck… I don’t want to be a rake - to be honest, I love my big boobs and big bum (to an extent), and don’t want to turn into a clone of everyone else… this is far more about getting back on track. Feeling better in myself, not having that sinking feeling when I walk into a clothes shop, and - most importantly - not having the risk of diabetes kicking in… which is quite high as my dad was diabetic.

Yesterday, I made full use of the ‘last day of freedom’, polishing the rest of my Cadbury’s easter egg, eating a Krispy Kreme doughnut and drinking a vanilla latte without counting the calofiric content… today it has all changed - and to be honest, I feel great about it.

I will let you know how I am getting on. In order to give you (and me) and idea of how I'm doing... these are my first stats...

Weight: 215lbs
Bust: 44in
Waist: 36in
Hips: 51in
Arms (top): 14in
Legs (top): 30in

So, I have around 50lbs to loose overall… aiming at 15 for now, by the end of April/mid May ideally… and maybe the whole lot by Christmas… who knows. I don’t care how long it takes to be honest, this is a lifestyle thing and not a quick fix.

*********

Phew! Just got back from Curves… it is official… it is NOT easy to walk 5 miles and do a full workout in one day - my legs feel totally stiff and nasty. Cor blimey. Felt so whoozy when I finished! Fingers crossed it gets easier! I'm off to melt my muscles in a burning hot bath
